The 30th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IC) elected the five (5) National Society Members to the Standing Commission (SC) for the next four (4) years, until the close of the 31st Conference in 2011.
In addition to the elected members, there are four ex officio members – the Presidents of the ICRC and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Dr Jakob Kellenberger and Mr Tadateru Konoe, the Director of Law and Movement Cooperation of the ICRC, Dr Philip Spoerri and the Secretary General of the International Federation, Dr Bekele Geleta.

Why did you want to be in the commission?
In the SC I would like to strengthen and promote the National Societies’ role of auxiliaries to the authorities. I would also like to open up and develop partnerships between the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and humanitarian organizations at the international level.
What do you hope to achieve?
I would like to help promote and implement the laws, rules and principles applicable to international disaster relief (IDRL) and activities regarding family links.
What experience do you have within the Mali Red Cross?
• Initiation and adoption of a law on the protection of the emblem in Mali
• Organization of a national campaign on the dissemination of IHL
• Coordination of a nationwide vaccination campaign and of the distribution of treated
mosquito netting
• Coordination of relief operations and food security
• Coordination of Environmental Education Project
• Assistance to migrants and refugees program
• Women income generating project

I was member of the Standing Commission’s Working Group on the 2007 Statutory Meetings and Treasurer of ACROFA (African Francophone Red Cross and Red Crescent Association.
